Windows Cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.
This error can occur when downloading or copying executables from computer to computer. The firstly thing to do is to make sure you do have permissions, if you have then some people on the internet have dicussed removing IE Enhanced security from Windows Components. I would however check this out first as its a simple click of an unblock to solve. There is a security option that appears under the general tab of the executable properties that reads : This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer. So if this block is on and causing the error message aboe you can remove it with the following instructions :
- Right click the file that is blocked
- Then click the menu properties.
- This will open up a new window on your computer and will be automatically on the general tab. Click the unblock button as highlighted, then click ok. All done !
Note : This option can appear on any executable file downloaded or transfered depeding on security settings.
